I’ve lived in Kansas most of my life, so the Emmett Love books are great fun to read, especially since I most recently lived in Coffeyville, KS about five blocks from where the Dalton Gang was killed by the citizens during an unsuccessful bank robbery (on the sidewalk next to the historic bank is a life size painted mural of their laid out corpses). A few years ago someone tried to rob a bank here again for the first time since then, and I believe we shot him, too. The Love books capture the feel of this locale and era, are laugh out loud funny, and I often ended up reading choice lines to my husband. I can’t wait for more. Thank you.
I can’t put them down and I want more. I need more. John Locke’s books are absolutely addicting and I’m going to need another fix soon. I read all nine books in three weeks. I have read thousands of books in my life and have many favorite authors but John Locke is now at the top of the list. I love the way he puts the characters from the Donovan Creed novels into the Emmett Love novels. You don’t find many people with a talent like John Locke and thank God it hasn’t been wasted. Thank you for your entertaining, enjoyable, laughable, wonderful books. I love them.

A close friend of mine was a fan of your Donavan Creed series. He convinced me I should send my book, “Mobley’s Law,” to Telemachus Press, who had been publishing your work, including your westerns. I had been sitting on mine for several years, discouraged because the big house publishers were no longer interested in westerns; even non-traditional ones. What I received from Telemachus was service I could not believe. They loved the book and have been working with me constantly to promote it. To say I have been thrilled, would be a huge understatement.
I believe the publishing industry has fallen victim to its own propaganda and unwillingness to expand to cover more than 10% of the market. They dismiss the other 90% with a wave of the hand; and with the advent of Amazon, etc. and Indie publishing, they are reaping what they have sown. You cannot dismiss the 90% and expect it not to come back and bite you sooner or later. Now the books stores are going out of business and will continue to do so unless the industry itself makes some serious adjustments. Based on comments in the WSJ, I think you are on the inside track in doing this and saving the industry from itself. Congratulations and good luck with your new ventures. GLS
